The extreme liberal politics of the Catholic Church’s Pope Francis have led some even within rarified circles in the Vatican to question whether or not Francis is actually a legitimate Pope.
They always say that you should judge a person by the people he surrounds himself with, and in Francis’s case he chooses to ally himself with the most radical elements within the Church.
One of Pope Francis’s closest associates among Catholic clergy is a Jesuit priest named Father John Martin, who serves as an American advisor to Francis in the Vatican. Fr. Martin was recently appointed to the high-ranking official position of consultor to the Vatican’s Secretariat for Communications.
Fr. Martin has generated controversy over many of his anti-Trump remarks in the past, including one where he said that the way Trump treats immigrants is just like the Nazis’ treatment of Jews during the Holocaust. Unsurprisingly, one of the first thing that Francis’s new mouthpiece Martin did in his new role is bash Republicans for passing tax reform that includes tax cuts for the majority of Americans.
The US will soon face the consequences of a #TaxBill that takes money from the poor to give to the rich. Those who voted for it will face consequences later, when they are judged. Do you think Jesus's words about being judged on how we care for the poor don't apply? Think again.
