Elizabeth Warren Slams ‘GOP Tax Scam Bill’ — Then Admits She Hasn’t Even Read It

Like clockwork, Congressional Democrats can be always counted on to use the same basic formula to trash Republican tax plans. Every time.

“Tax cuts for the rich, tax hikes for the middle class.”

As the Senate on Friday night prepared to vote on its sweeping tax reform bill, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) took to Twitter to post a video, in which she slammed the bill as a “GOP tax scam”:

She hadn’t even read it? So how could she know if it’s a “scam” or not?

In the video, Warren said the main objective of the bill is a “payoff to the big Republican donors”:

“Whatever else it does to hardworking families, whatever else it does to this economy, they don’t care.”

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) used the same terminology to slam the Republicans, as reported by Fox News.

Referring to the bill as a “betrayal of the American middle class,” Pelsosi said in a written statement:

The GOP tax scam is a product of haste, carelessness and cruelty. It was written on Republicans’ trickle-down delusions, not analysis or facts.

It was written first and foremost for the wealthiest one percent, not middle class families trying to get ahead.

The bill passed — in the wee hours of Saturday morning — 51-49, with Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) the only Republican to vote against it.

No Democrats voted in favor.

The bill now moves on to a conference committee, where the Senate and House must reconcile their separate versions of tax reform. The House passed its bill in November.

Both chambers must then pass the same version of the bill. It would then head to President Donald Trump’s desk, where he’s vowed to eagerly sign it into law.
