‘Christmas Blood’: ISIS Releases Direct Threat Against Pope Francis

Timed for Christmas, a media outlet affiliated with the Islamic State group has released a threat against Pope Francis.

A poster issued by the Wafa Media Foundation shows a terrorist driving toward St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome with “an assault rifle and a rucksack” inside his BMW, according to the U.K. Mirror.

The poster bears the heading, “Christmas blood” with the phrase “so wait …” in red underneath.

Rome has long been an Islamic State target, one analyst said.

“ISIS thinks that Rome is one of its primary goals and is in its timetable,” Robert Spencer, author of “The Complete Infidel’s Guide to ISIS,” told CBN News.

“It has a timetable where in the 10 years, by the year 2025, it hopes to bring about Armageddon, the final struggle between good and evil or between the Muslims and the non-Muslims,” he said. “And that one of the chief stepping stones to that Armageddon battle is the conquest of Rome.”

In August, Islamic State group militants in the Philippines also issued threats against the Pope Francis.

They put out a video of militants wrecking decorations in a church, including statues of Jesus, Mary and St. Joseph.

“Remember this, you kuffar, we will be in Rome, we will be in Rome, inshallah,” a terrorist named “Abu Jindal” said.

“After all their efforts, it would be the religion of the cross that would be broken,” the video’s narrator said while a church burns. “The crusader’s enmity toward the Muslims only served to embolden a generation of youth.”

“Obviously, one cannot help but worry, above all for the senseless hatred that it is,” said Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin after seeing the video.

Last year, 12 people were killed when a truck was driven through a Christmas market in Berlin. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Islamic State has also threatened other European cities.

Last week, it put out a poster in which the Eiffel Tower is morphed into an automatic weapon.

That specific posters warns, in English and Arabic, that the Islamic group “will take revenge for the blood of Muslims on your land.”

The poster also said that the terrorist group will “kill the young” in front of their parents.
