Media Gives 52X More Coverage To Republican Scandal Than To Democrat Scandal, Report Says

Media gave 104 minutes of airtime on Republican scandal vs. only 2 minutes of airtime on Democratic scandal.

A new study found that over a period of six days, mainstream media outlets devoted over 50 times more coverage to the allegations against a Republican senatorial candidate compared to a Democratic senator who is currently on trial for corruption charges.

From November 9 through November 14, the ABC, CBS and NBC morning and evening newscasts generated approximately 104 minutes of airtime dedicated to covering allegations against Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, according to an updated report from the Media Research Center.

By contrast, the same media outlets have devoted only two minutes of coverage to the federal corruption case involving Democratic Senator Bob Menendez (NJ) who is currently on trial during the same period.

MRC also noted that since the first week on September, NBC has not provided any coverage on the Menendez case.

While it’s unsurprising that coverage of the allegations against embattled Alabama Republican Roy Moore would outpace coverage of the trial of Democratic Senator Bob Menendez due to the nature of the serious allegations and the special election, the dramatic disparity of the coverage is nonetheless remarkable.

Underscoring the media’s bias against Republicans even more overtly is what triggered the criminal investigation into the Democratic Menendez: allegations that Menendez was paying for underage prostitutes in the Dominican Republic.
